'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' Review: A Parody Biopic that makes you laugh

Weird Al Yankovic is one of the most fascinating people on Earth. His rise to fame by making parodies to popular songs was something that has never been seen before. His personality speaks for itself so when I heard there was going to be a movie about his life, I was excited. When I heard Daniel Radcliffe was playing Weird Al, I was even more excited. Does it live up to the hype? Let's find out.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is a parody biopic based on the real life of Al Yankovic. In typical Werid Al fashion, the film takes you on a roller coaster. Radcliffe plays Weird Al to perfection. The film portrays Weird Al's parents of not being supportive of his dreams of being a musician. In reality, his parents were musicians themselves and were very supportive. That lie sets the tone for the film.

Weird Al is portrayed as a egoistical rockstar who drinks and does drugs. He even has a relationship with Madonna, who is portrayed by the wonderful Evan Rachel Wood. What's great about this film is that it is Weird Al. I'm not talking about the portrayal of Weird Al but I'm talking about what the portrayal means. This film is a parody and that is what Weirs Al is. The film perfectly captures how weird Weird Al is.

Not only is this film a parody biopic, it is a comedy. It makes you laugh unlike other biopics that are taken serious. It reminded me of the fake biopic Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. I wouldn't be surprised if Weird Al took inspiration from that film while writing this film. It is refreshing to have a biopic be like this.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is not one of the best films of all time, but it is a great film for what it's supposed to do. It is suppose to be a fun and good time at the movies and it succeeds at that. Its refreshing style leaves viewers wanting more of these kinds of films. If you're looking for a fun movie, watch Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.
