The Book of Boba Fett is the latest Star Wars show to premiere on Disney+. The first chapter follows Boba Fett (Temeura Morrison) and how he escaped the Sarlaac. These events were briefly mentioned by C-3PO in Return of the Jedi. The first chapter of The Book of Boba Fett is a slow burn that shows everything we knew about the character already.
The episode starts with Boba Fett getting out of the Sarlaac and resurfacing to society. He is quickly captured by the Tuskens. He is dragged through the sand by the Tuskens and is treated like a servant. He then wakes up from his healing session in the water and tells Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) he's been having these dreams again. Boba begins to hold court as he is the new ruler of the territory that was ruled by Jabba the Hutt. As he's holding court, Boba expects the mayor of Mos Espa to visit him and welcome him but he refuses. The mayor sends his lackey to welcome Boba and tells Boba to send a tribute to him. Boba tells the lackey his tribute to him is not killing the lackey and the mayor.
Boba and Fennec then walk to an establishment owned by Garsa Fwip (Jennifer Beals). Boba tells Garsa that he is the new ruler in town and would like to keep her business going. Garsa gives Boba and Fennec a gift inside of their helmets. Boba and Fennec are walking back and are suddenly attacked by ninja looking assassins. These assassins gain the upper hand and send Boba back into healing. Fennec chases them off using her great parkour skills.
While Boba is back in healing, he dreams of his time with the Tuskens. This time a Tusken forces him to dig for some water. Suddenly a Goro looking monster from Mortal Kombat comes out of the sand and starts attacking Boba and the young Tusken. Boba fights off this monster the same way Jabba the Hutt was killed, choking out the monster. Boba earns the respect of the young Tusken and all of the Tuskens after they find out what he did. That concludes the first chapter.
The first chapter of The Book of Boba Fett is a slow ride that gives the viewer the backstory of the character and now shows us his new role as the leader of his territory replacing Jabba the Hutt. It wasn't the most exciting episode and didn't give a viewer to stay but future episodes look promising and familiar faces may make an appearance.
