Our Most Anticipated Movies of 2025

2024 is over and 2025 begins! After an exciting year of movies, we have another year of new movies to look forward to. Not every anticipated movie is on this list, but here are the ones I’m most excited about. Here are my most anticipated movies of 2025.

10) F1

Courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures

This is probably the least-known movie on this list. F1 is directed by Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski and stars Brad Pitt as a retired Formula One racer coming out of retirement to mentor a racing prodigy. Top Gun Maverick is one of the best movies of the 2020s with great cinematography and camera work. It should be exciting to see Kosinski film the perspective of a racer after seeing his terrific work on filming the perspective of a pilot in Top Gun: Maverick. The first trailer won me over, making me excited for this movie. F1 is scheduled to come out on June 27.

9) Jurassic World Rebirth

The Jurassic Park series returns this summer with a new movie, directed by Gareth Edwards, known for directing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the 2014 Godzilla movie. Jurassic World Rebirth stars a new cast of Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey. The Jurassic World movies haven’t lived up to the hype nor have they reached the levels of the original Jurassic Park movie. The last Jurassic World movie, Jurassic World: Dominion, was the worst in the series. Despite all of that, Gareth Edwards has a good track record as a director, and the original screenplay writer of Jurassic Park, David Koepp, is returning. Also, seeing dinosaurs on the big screen never gets old. Jurassic World Rebirth is scheduled to come out on July 2.

8) The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

A movie originally meant for HBO Max, The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie stars famous Looney Tunes characters Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, both characters voiced by Eric Bauza, working together to stop an alien invasion. I love the Looney Tunes and I’m always excited for a new Looney Tunes project. This will be a fully animated movie returning to traditional animation, which is rare for theatrical animated movies these days. The movie premiered at last year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival to great reviews and will have a theatrical release in the States on February 28.

7) Zootopia 2

Disney animated sequels usually never deliver or land up as well as the original film. Having said that, Zootopia 2 is my most anticipated animated movie and has a good chance of breaking the cycle. The first Zootopia is one of the best-animated movies from the 2010s. It had a terrific balance of humor and tackling serious subject matters that kept adults engaged. A sequel has a lot of potential and could go in several different directions. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde return to solve a new case, once again voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman. Zootopia 2 is scheduled to come out on November 26.

6) The Fantastic Four: The First Steps

Three MCU movies are coming out this year, but none has more anticipation and urgency to be good than The Fantastic Four: The First Steps. Marvel’s first family is finally making their MCU debut, starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Directed by Matt Shakman, this new Fantastic Four movie takes place in an alternate futuristic 1960s and has the Fantastic Four going up against Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson. It’s also likely Robert Downy Jr. could make his first appearance as Doctor Doom in a post-credit scene. I want to see a good Fantastic Four movie, and with the MCU making a comeback after Deadpool & Wolverine, as well as anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday, this is my most anticipated Marvel movie of 2025 and the second most anticipated comic book movie. The Fantastic Four: The First Steps is scheduled to come out on July 25.

5) From The World of John Wick: Ballerina

John Wick’s story might be over, but there are more stories to explore in the world of John Wick. Ana De Armas stars as a new character named Eve Macarro, who is out for revenge. Taking place between the events of John Wick Chapter 3-Parabellum and John Wick Chapter 4, returning to the new movie are Lance Reddick in his last role before his death, Anjelica Huston, Keanu Reeves, and Ian McShane. The John Wick series has great action and the trailer to From The World of John Wick: Ballerina got me hyped. After seeing Ana De Armas’s brief action scenes in No Time To Die, I’m glad to see her get a chance to star in an action series as exciting as John Wick. Directed by Len Wiseman, From The World of John Wick: Ballerina is scheduled to come out on June 6.

4) Avatar: Fire and Ash

Courtesy of 20th Century Studios

Despite the Avatar franchise being labeled as overrated, I enjoyed the first two movies. James Cameron has been one of my favorite directors for years, and I always look forward to seeing him use new film technology to break new ground. Returning from the other Avatar movies are Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet. It’s a relief that we only had to wait three years for Avatar: Fire and Ash instead of over a decade. Avatar: Fire and Ash is scheduled to come out on December 19.

3) Wicked: For Good

Courtesy of Universal Pictures

No other movie surprised me so much as the 2024 movie Wicked. The movie was colorful and well-acted, and the songs were incredible. Wicked: For Good will cover Act Two of the musical adaptation based on the popular play Wicked. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were terrific as Elphaba and Glinda, and I’m excited to see where their characters go in the upcoming movie. Revisiting the Land of Oz is always exciting, especially on the big screen. Jon M. Chu will be directing again. Wicked: For Good is scheduled to come out on November 21, 2025.

2) Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning

Courtesy of Paramount Pictures

The Mission: Impossible franchise has been a dominant action franchise for decades. Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, continuing where Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning ended off. Also returning are Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, and Simon Pegg. Despite Cruise wanting to keep making Mission: Impossible movies, it’s currently being billed as the last one with Cruise’s character, putting the series in an unknown future afterward. Regardless, I’m excited to see what new action is brought to the series, what crazy stunts Cruise pulls off this time, and how the story that began with the previous movie concludes. Mission: Impossible: Final Reckoning is scheduled to come out on May 23.

1) Superman

Courtesy of DC

My most anticipated movie of 2025 is James Gunn’s Superman. This will be the first movie in Gunn’s DCU and is one of the most important movies for both DC and comic book movies. Growing up, Superman has always been one of my top three favorite comic book heroes along with Spider-Man and Batman. Superman remains one of the most important characters in superhero lore and needs a new movie in theaters. Gunn has one of the best track records of any comic book movie director, making me confident in his ability to make a good Superman movie. Superman will show Clark Kent dealing with reconciling his Kryptonian heritage with his adoptive human family, as well as bring Krypto the Superdog to live-action. Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Superman is scheduled to come out on July 11.
