Obi-Wan Kenobi Part III featured the long awaiting return of Obi-Wan and Anakin back together. Fans have been anticipating their reunion ever since the show was announced. Part III gives us this reunion and much more in the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Let's recap Part III.
The episode starts with Anakin putting on the Darth Vader suit. Vader's suit looks awesome in this show by the way. Vader talks to The Third Sister and tells her she needs to prove herself to become the Grand Inquisitor. Obi-Wan and Leia have a conversation on the transport. Leia asks about the force and how it feels. Obi-Wan says the force feels like being safe. Obi-Wan and Leia arrive on a new planet filled with storm-troopers. Obi-Wan has a vision of a young Anakin in the distance. He's looking directly at Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan snaps out of the vision and continues on his journey with Leia.
The Third Sister goes back to Inquisitor headquarters and puts a plan in motion to catch Obi-Wan. The Third Sister tells The Fifth Brother that she is in charge of this mission and Lord Vader personally told her that. There is tension between the Inquisitors, with each one pursuing the title of Grand Inquisitor. Obi-Wan and Leia were sent coordinates by Haja to meet someone who can help them. They find the exact coordinates but no one is there. Instead of waiting there, they hitch a ride with an alien named Freck.
Freck picks up a couple of storm-troopers on their way to the nearest port. The storm-troopers question Obi and Leia's story. They say they are father and daughter visiting this planet because that is where Obi met Leia's mother. Of course they are using fake names in this scenario. The storm-troopers buy the story and get off where they're supposed to. Leia then questions Obi-Wan if he is actually her real father. Obi-Wan says he wishes he was her actual father but sadly he is not. Obi-Wan then tells Leia he has a brother but he doesn't remember him.
The vehicle goes through inspection from storm-troopers. Facial recognition software makes them realize it's Obi-Wan and we get an action sequence. Obi shoots all of the storm-troopers, saving Leia in the process. More storm-troopers come but the person who they were supposed to meet saves Obi-Wan and Leia. This person is named Tala Durith, a double agent. She takes them to a nearby safe house to get them to the nearby planet of Jabiim. We meet a new droid named NED-B who can't communicate.
Inquisitors and storm-troopers are tipped off of this safe house and look for them. They find nothing in the safe house and move on to another one. Tala tells Obi-Wan about the history of this safe house. She says he isn't the only Jedi that has been here. Tala tells him that there is a pilot waiting for them. Suddenly Obi feels a presence. His intuition is right. He sees Vader patrolling the streets. Vader senses Obi-Wan's presence and starts hurting people to try and bait him to come out.
Vader and Obi face each other and start fighting. Obi's skills have regressed since Revenge of the Sith. Leia goes to the port on her own by her request. Vader sets the ground on fire and drags Obi through the flames. Vader wants Obi to burn the way he did. Before Obi can be burned, Tala and NED-B save the day and get Obi out of there. Vader looks on with the reflection of the flames in his eyes, knowing he will see him again soon. Leia makes to the port but the pilot she is supposed to meet is knocked out by The Third Sister. That is the end of Part III.
The episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi always feel shorter than they are. Each episode leaves you wanting more. Part III leaves the viewer with questions. What will happen to Leia after being taken by The Third Sister? How will Obi-Wan rescue Leia again? Will Obi-Wan kill The Third Sister? My only complaint with the series is the predictability. Since there is a prequel, we know Obi-Wan and Leia won't die. The fire scene was a great example of this because I knew Obi-Wan's body would not be burned. I know Leia will not be in real danger because she is alive in A New Hope. It's easy to predict what will happen in this series but what keeps me watching is seeing these characters again on a new journey. The series adds to the story of the original trilogy and furthers the history between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader in A New Hope. It shows how long their rivalry truly is. With three episodes left, we will see where the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi takes us.
