'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 6 SPOILER REVIEW: Smallfolk

Courtesy of HBO

House of the Dragon is on dangerous territory right now. After episode 4, fans knew a cool down period was coming but fans didn't expect how cold it would actually get. Episode 6 shares the same result as episode 5 but in a worse fashion. Mundane dialogue and filler has been the theme these past two episodes and if things don't change quick, the show will have a big problem. Let's recap this mundane episode of House of the Dragon.

Aemond has taken full authority of King's Landing after Aegon was badly injured. His first order is to kick off his mother Alicent off the high council. Aemond thanks Alicent for her service but says her duties are no longer needed in the high council. Alicent questions if the revenge for Aemond's eye has not been enough for him. Aemond shrugs her off and sends her away.

Rhaenyra finally takes a little bit of control this episode by asserting her authority. She even slaps one of the lords for questioning her. She also asks Ser Steffon Darklyn if he wants to become a dragon rider for Seasmoke. Darklyn gladly obliges but doesn't end well as Darklyn is burned to death by Seasmoke. Rhaenyra keeps questioning her own leadership but Mysaria has been a comfort for her in more ways than one. We find out they are attracted to each other as they have a quick make out sesh before being rudely interrupted.

Daemon is in his personal hell at Harrenhal. This time he relives his brother King Viscerys kicking him out of King's Landing again. I really don't like what they have been doing to Daemon this season. They have been making him seem weak when he is one of the strongest characters in the show. The only way this can be redeemed is if Daemon comes back better than ever but if it continues this way, I have a feeling fans will be very upset. But, for the first time Daemon asks for council from Alys for dealing with the river lords.

Aemond has a not so tender moment with his brother Aegon. He basically tells Aegon to stay out of his way and let him run King's Landing. Aemond also sends Criston and his army to cut off Daemon's army. He tells Criston he'll meet him there with Vhagar. Alicent has a nice moment with her brother asking him about her son Daeron who was sent away. Gwayne tells Alicent that Daeron is a fine young man and even a lady killer. Alicent semms relieved and happy to hear that she didn't ruin one child's life.

Alicent takes Helaena to the sanctuary to pray for Aegon. As this is happening, chaos is erupting in the city as food is now being delivered in King's Landing courtesy of Queen Rhaenyra. This was done to get the people on Rhaenyra's side. Alicent even gets hit with a couple of food items before being taken back to the castle.

The search for Seasmoke's rider has seemingly come to an end as Addam of Hull was chosen by Seasmoke. It is not exactly known why he was chosen but hopefully in the next episode that will be explained more. Does he have Targaryen or Velayron blood in him? We will have to find out.

This episode was a miss. It did nothing to further the developments of war. It seemed like HBO needed another filler episode where the characters talk about nothing. I hope next week's episode is better and more exciting for the fans.
